Date available from: March 9, 2023

Opportunity and position description:

We hope to attract an energetic and motivated dentist who is licensed in Wisconsin who can perform most modern dental procedures in a well-managed environment on patients of all ages. No experience is necessary, but some is helpful. The practice was established in 1953 by Donald Baxter and Terry Baxter joined his father in 1988. Dr. Terry built a new 2500 sq. ft. dental office in 1995 and recently purchased and installed new equipment in all six operatories. The upgrades include Midmark dental units, LED Midmark overhead track lights, KAVO electric handpieces, KAVO intraoral scanners, Progeny x-ray units, Gendex digital sensors, VALO curing lights, and Eaglesoft dental software. Four operatories for the doctors and two for hygiene. Each operatory is equipped with computers for paperless convenience. Currently, there is a staff of eight full time employees' which includes three in the front office, three chairside assistants, and two registered dental hygienists. Normal weekly work hours total about 35. It is my sincere intention to expand these to include some evening hours and a full workday on Friday. Our new associate dentist should expect about 25- 30 hours initially. Office production has been very consistent for the past several years with an average gross of $1.6 million after Delta Dental write offs. The overhead is quite lean and closely monitored. It runs about 55% which is way below the national average. Compensation will be a fair hourly salary that would be commensurate with experience and ability with production bonus potential. All nuances of the benefits are negotiable and open for discussion. The practice is located in Baraboo, WI situated in the south-central part of the state about 45 miles north of Madison, the state capital. Baraboo is a very beautiful moderately sized rural midwestern city of about 13,000 residents. It is nestled in the "Baraboo bluffs" known as the driftless area. This is where the glaciers ended their journey back in the ice age. These beautiful bluffs surround the glacial made Devil's Lake, the most visited state park in the state, over one million visitors a year! There are several other lakes, rivers, streams, and parks in the area offering outstanding recreational opportunities. Baraboo has a vibrant downtown area that is a destination for tourists who enjoy the many eclectic shops and restaurants. It is also the former home of the world-famous Ringling Brothers circus. In fact, an off shoot of this heritage lives on at the Circus World Museum which operates seven days a week from May until September. Baraboo has excellent educational facilities. Specifically, both the middle and high schools have recently undergone major renovations and upgrades. A small four- year university campus, UW- Platteville Sauk County extension, also resides in Baraboo and is a popular option for students pursuing higher education. Many other improvements to the city are currently in the works including a huge addition to our Carnegie free library, a newly completed city services building, relocation and development of a new volunteer fire department just to name a few. Economically, the community is very stable with many good job opportunities in and around the area. About 68% of our patients have dental insurance coverage. Several new residential developments are being constructed now to accommodate what the local officials feel will be a substantial increase to the city's population. Plans are that Baraboo will double in size in 10 years. The city website is Personally, Dr. Terry has been practicing for over 34 years and realizes that it is prudent to prepare for the business's future. This is a great opportunity for the next generation to carry on with the excellent dental care Baxter Dental Center has delivered during its tenure. A transition of ownership is certainly a possibility and a goal.
